We all know that nowadays smartphone manufacturing companies are launching their smartphone with the Quad Camera/ Three Camera. Do we actually need 3 cameras to click a single picture? Do we really click with other cameras in our day-to-day life? How do other cameras useful for a regular guy? If the smartphone has 4 Camera’s then why people are buying a DSLR instead of a Smartphone? there is a lot of questions that might occur in your head right now & I am going to answer all your question in this post.

If you know all this then please skip this post because I am giving information to people who really need to know the reason behind the quad-camera/three-camera.

Before start answering the questions I need you to go through this post which might help you with professional photography and which helps you to get the answers properly with the details. I am going to answer all you need to know but if you want to read more, then you can read about Professional Photography from HERE.

How many Camera Lens is available for the smartphone and how many among them are really useful with the day to day life?

There are a total of 6 types of lens are available. These are the general details that are already known by the professional Camera Shooter. The Big Marketing companies, as well as Agencies, are using all the lenses for photography. Here are the Smartphone manufacturing companies are making camera lenses that might get change the world of photography but what I believe is that the devices which are particularly made for photography are better than the smartphone.

  • 8-24mm – (Ultra-wide) Mainly Use For – Panoramic shots, cityscapes, landscape, real estate, abstract.
  • 24-35mm – (Wide Angle) Mainly Use For – Interiors, landscapes, architecture, forest photography.
  • 35, 50, 85, 135mm – (Standard Prime) Mainly Use For – Portraits, weddings, street/documentary photography.
  • 55-200mm – (Zoom) Mainly Use For – Portraits, weddings, wildlife photography.
  • 50-200mm – (Macro) Mainly Use For – Ultra detailed photography (rings, nature.)
  • 100-600mm – (Telephoto) Mainly Use For – Sports, wildlife, astronomy.

There are mainly 5 types of camera lens are available in the Smartphone industry :

  • Wide-angle Lens
  • Ultra Wide-angle Lens
  • Telephoto Lens
  • Macro Lens
  • Portrait Lens

Technical term speaking it is important in some scenarios because sometimes you need to find the camera lens to do work but instead of that smartphone camera will work for the temporary solution. In some cases, like if you need you need to take a shoot from the telephoto you can take it as well as you can also use a macro lens to capture small tiny details which might help you in temporary situations as I say before.

If the smartphone manufacturing companies are providing then please stop providing a 2Mp camera which is not even considered in the current market. I love what Samsung is providing in upper mid-range devices not just like everyone else. Samsung provides 2 cameras with 5Mp in Samsung Galaxy M51 and Samsung Galaxy F62.

It is better to have one camera set up them 2Mp cameras. The Realme, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Vivo, and Oppo are still providing a 2MP camera set up in 2021.

The latest POCO X3 Pro has comes with 2 – 2Mp cameras on the back. What do you think about that let me know in a comment below. I love what Geekyranjit used to say about the 2MP camera is – Rubbish Camera!  Here is the video you can hear and enjoy the feel – Here

No, there are more than 82% of people who never used their other smartphone cameras. People using the main sensors to click pictures in day-to-day life. In 2019 Apple also started providing a tri-camera setup to attract more customers. If you look into the camera setup its had the same 12 MP camera setup in front and also had the same 12MP camera in front too.

Yes, you heard right they used the same camera but what they did is that they used the same camera with a different Aperture(Here you can learn more about it). They also have the same algorithm to process the image quality and depth.

Except for iPhone, the smartphone manufacture are providing a 2MP camera or less than that. Some smartphones manufacture hiding camera configuration by just saying Macro lense, Portirate lense and some are even providing B/W lense to show that their smartphones have quad setup camera.

If the smartphone manufacture company start providing good camera along with the main camera. I hope one day smartphone manufacturers will replace the DSLR
